SSG Billy Ray Anderson was a member of the Army. SSG Anderson served our country until January 15th, 1971 in Bing Thuy, South Vietnam. He was 25 years old and was married. It was reported that Billy died from small arms fire or grenade. His body was recovered. Billy was born on October 18, 1945, in Winston-Salem, NC. SSG Anderson is on panel 05W, line 044 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C.

For a friend who gave all for his company and loved ones. Hardly a day goes by that you are not thought about and you are still greatly missed. My last letter to you was returned unopened and that still haunts me to this day. Why didn't I write sooner? His is the Son of Mrs Mildred Lane and Mr Reid Anderson.

He served with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, "Wolfhounds", 25th Infantry Division, "Tropic Lightning", USARV.

He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Silver Star for Gallantry, The Bronze Star Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal.
