Services for Goldia "Goldie" Ruby Irene Lemons Ayers, 89, will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, at Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Tolbert officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Born on Oct. 21, 1917, in Russett, Okla., to Clarence Levi and Katie Belle Ragsdale Lemons, she passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, at a Healdton health care facility.

She married Hubert James Ayers on March 5, 1936. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 25, 1999; her dad on July 11, 1965; her mother on July 24, 1959; a granddaughter, Janet Diane Ayers on Feb. 22, 1965; four brothers, Nolan Lemons, Larence Lemons, Clifford Lemons and Hobart Lemons; and two sisters, Clara Willis and Leona James.

Goldie graduated from Russett High School. After her marriage to Hubert they moved to California for a short time then returned to Ardmore and made their home. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where she was a faithful and dedicated member. She loved to visit the sick and shut-in members of her Sunday school class as long as she was able. Her life revolved around her God and her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Survivors include a son, James Ayers and wife, Margie, Moore; a daughter, Cleo Chaffin and husband, Ken, Healdton; two sisters, Nova Lemons McDaniel, Wichita, Kan., and Geraldine Lemons Horstman, Blackwell, seven grandchildren, James Ayers, Brian Ayers, Ellen Walker, Kevin Ayers, Cheryl Bowhay, Christy Holden, and Lorie Gray; 16 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Ayers, Brandi Ayers, Brittany Ayers, Jonathan Walker, Keegan Walker, Jamee Bowhay, Brandon Bowhay, Shea Holden, Drew Holden, Emilee Holden, Steven Holden, Julia Holden, Isabella Gray, Daxon Gray, Christopher Gray and Victoria Gray; and great-great-granddaughter, Brooklin Paige Ayers, Oklahoma City.

Bearers will be grandsons, Kevin Ayers, Jim Ayers, Doug Gray, Rich Holden and James Bowhay and great-grandson, Drew Holden.

Services are under the direction of Griffin Hillcrest Funeral Home.
