Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage conducted by The Rev. Rick Martindale . A graveside service with military graveside rites will be held at 2:00 pm at Hephzibah Baptist Church Cemetery in Wendell.
A native of Wake County he was a son of the late Ed Carl Carter and Lottie Young Carter. Elbert was WWII veteran of the US Navy and was a retired automobile mechanic. He was preceded in death by his wife Violet King Carter.
His only survivors are friends and neighbors and his church family at First Presbyterian Church in Carthage.
