Mrs. Nabors passed from this life Oct. 30, 2016, at her home in Cookeville.

Juanita was born April 18, 1930, in Smith County, Tenn., to the late Wiley Richard and Ina Ray Alcorn.

She received her education in Bledsoe, Jackson and Putnam Counties and MTI College of Accounting.

Juanita accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of 12 at Cane Creek Baptist Church. Her family moved to Granville, Tenn., where she was baptized in the Cumberland River. She became a member of the Baptist Church and was elected as a Sunday School teacher at the age of 14. (Records of the Baptist church history are in the museum in Granville, Tenn.).

She was a charter member of the Washington Avenue Baptist Church, having joined when the church was first organized. She taught Sunday School there for many years. She worked side by side with her husband J.R. Nabors, who pastored churches in Fentress and White Counties for several years. After he retired, they attended Rocky Point Baptist Church until he passed away. She then returned to Washington Avenue Baptist Church where she worshipped with her loved ones there.

Juanita was elected County Clerk in 1974, and served Putnam County for two terms, until September, 1982.

She loved the Lord and prayed daily for family, friends, and loved ones. She enjoyed her fellowship with friends at the Senior Citizens Center playing Rook, Spades, and other games and having lunch.

Juanita is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Jan Nabors; grandson and wife, Blake and Bethany (Fitzpatrick) Nabors; and sister, Joyce (Alcorn) Hall.
