Elsie was the daughter of Frank J. and Lillian Belle (Leavenworth) Cobb. She grew up on the family farm, moving in 1926 to Williamston. She was a teacher for many years, a principal at Dansville Elementary, and director of the Elementary Department at Greenville College until 1973.
Elsie and Dr. I.D. Baker were married on August 1, 1970 at the Greenville First Presbyterian Church. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2000.
Elsie is the last of her generation being preceded in death by her brother Sidney Cobb, and sisters Cecil Clementine Potter, Ruby Eva Cobb and Vera Lillian Arnold. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, and Dr. Baker's three daughters.
