Judy Kirk Wiseman, of Ravenswood, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at CAMC General Hospital in Charleston.

She was born and raised in Red Jacket, W.Va., the oldest of three brothers and sisters.

Judy was preceded in death by her father, Marshall Kirk of Red Jacket; her mother, Eunice Kirk of Red Jacket; and sister, Marsha Kirk of Charleston.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jack Wiseman; brothers, David Kirk (Joyce) of Holt, Mich., Jimm Kirk (Lou) of Belfry, Ky., and Mark Kirk (Kay) of Holt, Mich.; her children, Jonathon (Chip) Wiseman of Ravenswood, Keri Wiseman Starcher (Joe) of Ripley, and Joshua Wiseman of Charleston; and grandchildren, Kailee Mann, Hunter Wiseman, Victoria Starcher, and Joe Allen Starcher III (Trey); as well as many nieces and nephews.

Judy attended Concord University in Athens, W.Va., and graduated from Morris Harvey College in Charleston. She obtained her master's degree from Marshall University. Judy was a devout Christian and a long-time member of North United Methodist Church in Ravenswood. She served on the Ravenswood City Council for 16 years, one of those terms as the City Recorder. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother.

She spent 40 years in the field of education touching the lives of thousands of students at Ravenswood Middle School. She was awarded the Jackson County Middle School Teacher of the year for school year 1989-1990.

Judy will be remembered for her injection of good humor into any learning situation. She was an English/Reading teacher who also taught dance. She was an avid reader who enjoyed any type of literature.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 2, at North United Methodist Church in Ravenswood, as well as noon to 1 p.m. before the service at the church. The funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, November 3, at the North United Methodist Church with burial to follow at the Ravenswood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the "Judy Wiseman Scholarship Fund for Prospective Teachers." An account will be set up at WesBanco in Ravenswood.
