Info sent by Stephen Beck,a relative of Chapel, with thanks.

"When Chapel died, there were at least six cemeteries in Chazy, including Riverview. While the Wickwire Genealogy reports that Chapel died in Chazy, it is possible that he died farther south in Clinton County, because most people in Chazy had fled the advancing British troops by the end of August 1814. Chapel reportedly was already sick by the Battle of Plattsburgh and died rifgt after. If the family had fled, like most foks, Chapel may have been too sick to have been brought back th Chazy..."

Chapel is listed on his son's stone in Colchester Center Cemetery,VT.,but as "Chappel Wickwire", but since the cemetery didn't open until 1816, Chapel wasn't buried there either....
