Tab Hawkins, 78, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Jackson Madison County.

Born April 2, 1938, he was the son of the late James Carl and Gracie Estella Holland Hawkins.

He was a retired contractor, member of McCullough Chapel Baptist Church and Sons of the Confederate Veterans. Tab had a love for music and he and his band played at Loretta Lynn’s Dude Ranch for many years. He was involved in many benefits, including Hee Haw, St. Jude and local cancer events. Tab performed many coliseum shows opening for many country stars.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2016 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Brother Donnie Crone and Brother Don Williams with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Leake, Johnny Gamble, Ricky Muncrief, Ray Davis, Theron Gean and Tim Bivens.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 31st from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Annette Hawkins; one daughter, Kim Hawkins French (Allen) of Dyersburg; two sons, Ricky Hawkins, Keith Hawkins (Paula) both of Dyersburg; eight grandchildren, Brian Hawkins, Tiffany Stroup, Brandon Alexander, Randi Seratt, Blake Hawkins, Bethany Montgomery, Patrick French, Brandon French; and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Randy Gale Hawkins; three sisters, Mildred Strain, Artie Pack, Ruby Johnson; and one brother, Rayburn Hawkins.

The family requests memorials be directed to the McCullough Chapel Baptist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
