Laura/Lura was the daughter of Frederick and Anna "Annie" (Crane) Crane of Whiting. Her father was a carpenter born Whiting Maine and resident of Lubec. Her mother was also born Whiting. (See note below on date of death.) In the 1900 census she was age 11 with her parents in Whiting and had a brother Alton B. Crane then age 1.

Lura's middle name Blanch from her marriage record.

Laura/Lura married Vinton Jones Jul 22 1905 in Lubec. She was 16 and he was 19. Vinton was working as a laborer and had been born in Lubec, son of William Jones, deceased born in Trescott and Mary C. (Bradbury) born Lubec, resident of West Lubec.

Lura and Vinton had daughters Katherine C. Jones born March 4, 1906 Ruth Mae Jones born Oct 31, 1907 in Lubec. In the 1910 census in Lubec Lura B. and Vincent Jones were age 24 and daughters were 4 and 3. Lura had given birth to 2 children and had been married 4 years. Vincent worked in the can plant as a can maker.

Vincent died in 1917 and Mrs. Lura B. Crane married Hubert/Herbert Gardner Sawyer May 30, 1927 in New Brunswick. He was 40, a druggist of Bangor Me, and the son of Alfred D. and Mabel (Spear) and Lura was widowed and age 37, daughter of Fred H. and Annie. Crane of Whiting Maine. Herburt was born in Fort Fairfield Maine. In the following census in Bangor her children Katherine and Ruth M. ages 24 and 22 resided with them. Her husband was the proprietor of a drug store.

In the 1940 census they resided in Bangor and Herbert was 53 and Lura 50. Her daughter Katherine Jones age 34 was residing with them as were her parents Fred and Annie Crane.

Note: Her name is the bottom name on the cemetery stone, Lura B. 1889-1936 although the cemetery record indicates she died in 1966. Cemetery record also gives name as Jones when actually it was Sawyer. Lura was obviously alive in the 1940 census so cemetery stone is incorrect. She was buried West Lubec, names on cemetery record Vinton W., husband 1887-1917, Frank S. 1857-1944, and Mary E. 1848-1921.

There is a second cemetery record for this same cemetery, Frank S. Jones 1857-1944 (same as above record) and that record includes Vinton W. Jones who died 1917 (same as above) and his "wife Lura B. Crane 1903-1966" so that is another error in her DOB in this cemetery record.

The Frank S. Jones buried in this lot FindaGrave # 83612948 was Frank Sylvester Jones and a brother to Vincent. His dates are incorrect also and the Mary Jones buried here FindaGrave #83612993 was his mother Mary (Holmes) Jones.
