Glenn Richards, Sr., son of Willis and Mabel Houck Richards, was born January 11, 1932 in Port Morris, New Jersey. He departed this life on Sunday, October 30, 2016 in Warsaw Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw, Missouri at the age of eighty-four years, nine months and nineteen days.

On November 5, 1962 he was united in marriage to Annetta Amy Hamm and to this union three children were born.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his brothers, Willis “Bud” Richards, Jr., Horace Richards, George “Pat” Richards and Richard Richards; his sisters, Olive Kahutka, Gloria Wilson, Betty Kishpaugh and Wanda Holmes.

Glenn is survived by a daughter, Mabel Wolfe and husband James of Climax Springs, Missouri; two sons, Glenn Richards, Jr. and wife Laura of Boyertown, Pennsylvania, and James “Bucky” Richards of Climax Springs, Missouri; two granddaughters, Amy Cline and husband Clayton and Jamie Hall both of Climax Springs, Missouri; a sister, Jean Still of Netcong, New Jersey; great-grandchildren, Caleb Cline and wife LaRessa, Seth Cline, Kylee Hall, Sylas Hall, Rosie Hall and Grayson Lewis; two great-great-granddaughters, Riah and Raegan Cline; as well as a number of nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many dear friends.

Poppy, as he was known by his family and friends, grew up in the Budd Lake, New Jersey area. He was always volunteering to help with the fire departments in Budd Lake and Climax Springs. He was a Reserve Police Officer in Budd Lake. Glenn had been a New Jersey State Forest Fire Warden for many years. He also served our country in the Navy.

He was a member of Davey Jones Locker. In his spare time, Glenn enjoyed riding his horses and just being outside. He loved cooking and making delicious meals for his family.

Poppy has created many memories for his family and friends that they will always treasure. He was a loving, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle and a caring neighbor and friend.

Funeral services for Glenn “Poppy” Richards, Sr., will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. till time of service. Burial will follow at a later date in Branchville Cemetery, Branchville, New Jersey. Memorial donations may be made to the donor’s choice.
