Leona Andrew Dickey was born in Lorenzo, Texas on June 6, 1924 to Lela {Smith} and Henry Andrews. She passed away December 22, 2006 in Abilene, Texas.

Mrs. Dickey attended elementary school in Eastland, Texas. She also attended and graduated from Woodson High School in Abilene, Texas. She joined Macedonia Baptist Church and served on the Senior Board for many years and was also a member of the choir. Mrs. Dickey was a faithful member of the Women #1 Sunday School Class and Mission #2, where she was the devotion leader. She worked in private homes for many years and recently retired from Abilene State School as a Foster Grandparent. One of her favorite hobbies was fishing.

Mrs. Dickey was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wallace Dickey; and an infant daughter.

Survivors include her son, Reverend Otis Wylie and wife, Bettie, of Abilene; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at Macedonia Baptist Church with Reverend Matthew M. Lubin, eulogist, and Reverend Robert Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Mrs. Dickey's great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers - Renaldo Beavers, Kenneth Beavers, Mark Johnson, Marcus Johnson, Frankie Early Jr., Corey Early, and Bobbie Early.

The family will receive friends at a visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
