Mr. Cleaver L. “Cleve” Peirce, Sr.,74, of 672-B Cumberland Ave. Chambersburg, PA died at 8:55 P.M. Saturday December 22, 2001 in his home.

Born February 13, 1927 in Chambersburg, PA he was the son of the late Theodore, Sr. and Minerva (Claudy) Farner. He lived his early life in Chambersburg, PA.

Mr. Peirce attended Chambersburg High School.

He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during WWII from July 1944 until December 1947.

He and his wife, Margaret Ann (Slaybaugh) Peirce were married June 5, 1948 in Hagerstown, MD. They lived in Chambersburg, West Palm Beach, FL, Havre De Grace, MD, and Elkton, MD. They had lived at their present residence since 1989.

Mr. Peirce retired in 1982 as a scientific and technical photographer for the Department of Defense at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, in Aberdeen, MD.

He was a lifetime member of the Franklin County Fire Co, Chambersburg, a member of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post # 1599, the Bert Aspen American Legion Post #46, and the Marine Corp League, all of Chambersburg.

He was a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #600, Chambersburg and Past Exalted Ruler in 1976 of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #1564, Havre De Grace, MD.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter Carol Michelle Fountain, Easton, MD; three sons Michael L. Peirce, Lithonia, Georgia, Daniel Walter Peirce, and James Theodore Peirce, both of Elkton, MD: one granddaughter; 3 step grandchildren; 5 step great-grandchildren; one sister Margaret Peirce Kramer, Chambersburg; two brothers, Theodore Farner, Jr., Chambersburg and Ronald Lee Farner, Catasauqua, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He preceded in death by one son Cleaver L. Peirce, Jr. on April 11, 2000.

Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements were handle by the Cumberland Valley Crematorium, Waynesboro, PA.
