Death of Mrs. J. E. Wayland
Mrs. Mary Emma Wayland, wife of J. E. Wayland, 519 Salem avenue, died yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock after a brief illness.
Mrs. Wayland was Miss Sholes of Lynchburg. After a brief service at the home here her body will be taken to that city for interment. The hour of the service will be announced in the afternoon newspaper of today. She was 34 years old and is survived by her husband.
Mr. Wayland is connected with the postoffice and has many friends who share with him in the great sorrow which pervades his home.

Funeral Services of
Mrs. J E Wayland
The funeral services of Mrs. Mary Emma Wayland, wife of J. E. Wayland, will take place at 10 o’clock tomorrow morning from the house 519 Salem avenue, and will be conducted by the Rev. E. L. Woolf, D. D., pastor of Greene Memorial church, assisted by the Rev. T. Clagett Skinner, D. D., pastor of the First church. The body will be taken to Lynchburg for interment.
The pall-bearers will be T. L. Engleby, Claude Moore, M. M. Ramsey, M. J. Patsel, J. K. Poindexter and R. D. Thomas.
Mrs. Wayland is survived by five brothers and one sister, F. M., W. S., J. C., and George P. Sholes, of Roanoke; J. H. Sholes, of Lynchburg, and Mrs. J. H. Dadow of Portsmouth.

FUNERAL SERVICES
OF MRS. WAYLAND
The funeral of Mrs. J. E. Wayland was held at the Greene Memorial church yesterday morning at 10 o’clock. The Rev. E. L. Wolfe, pastor of the church, assisted by the Rev. T. C. Skinner, conducted the service. Many relatives and friends were present to attest their sorrow.
The floral offerings were numerous, borne by Mrs. Priddy, Mrs. Thomas, Mrs. Marks and Mrs. McNeace.
The pall-bearers were Mesers. T. L. Engleby, Claude Moore, M. M. Ramsey, M. J. Patsel, J. K. Poindexter, R. D. Thomas.
The remains were conveyed to Lynchburg on the noon train.
