Samuel Moore Is Found Dead at Wet Hill Home
The dead body of Samuel Moore was found yesterday morning at his home on Wet Hill by Ernest L. Towle, a neighbor, who called to visit him. Not seeing smoke coming from the home, Towle thought that Moore might be ill and unable to get up and sent over to offer aid.
He found Moore lying dead on the floor, fully dressed. He had apparently died during the early evening hours of Friday, judging from conditions in the home. Coroner Thomas Harris was notified and brought the body to the Perry-Jefford Funeral; Parlors in Nevada City.
Neighbors noticed smoke coming from Moore’s house during the day, but did not see him about. He had not complained to any one of them about feeling ill, and it is presumed a heart attack was the cause of his death.
Mr. Moore was a man of quiet, retiring characteristic, well liked by those who knew him. He had lived in the house where he died for several years. He was aged about 66 years and is survived by one brother, James R. H. Moore of Chico, who is too ill to come here for the funeral, and there is also another brother whose whereabouts are unknown.
The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock from the Perry-Jefford Funeral Parlors on Main Street.

* CADI gives death of Saturday the 18th.
