James L. “Jim” Grindle, 80, of Hendersonville went home to be with the Lord Saturday, October 22, 2016 from Life Care Center of Hendersonville following a period of declining health. A native of Gainesville, GA, Jim moved to Henderson county in 1960. He was the son of the late Clyde and Fannie Lee Lenderman Grindle, and the husband of the late Rinna Walker Grindle who died in 1988.

Jim was an Army reservist, and a member of the Flat Rock Lions Club and the Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post #77. Jim spent his entire working career with General Electric as a lighting engineer. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, serving as an usher, sound technician, and the Wednesday night “Yeast Roll Man”. Jim was also an instrumental part of the Special Friends Ministry at First Baptist Church and a volunteer with Four Seasons Compassion for Life.

Survivors include his loving wife of twenty-eight years, Glenda; two daughters, Cheryl Grindle of Santa Fe, NM, Beth Grindle Templeton and her husband Russell of Hendersonville; a step-daughter, Kim McKibbin and her husband Bill of Flat Rock; a son, Eric Swindell of Hendersonville; a sister, Carol Grindle McDaniel and her husband Jim of Kennesaw, GA; four grandchildren, Kristina Harrington, Mark Templeton, Clarissa Templeton-Smith, and Cole McKibbin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 29, 2016 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Scoggins officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm in the church prior to the service. Burial will take place at Alta Vista cemetery in Gainesville, GA.
