Mary Ellen Armstrong, 66, of Selah, died Monday, October 24, 2016 at Crescent Health Care Center with her family at her side.

She was born February 4, 1950 in Yakima, WA to Don and Lois Ellen (Walker) Armstrong. Mary was raised in the Nile/Cliffdell area and attended Naches schools, graduating from Naches High School. She worked at Whistling Jack Lodge for many years and made many friends. Mary retired due to health issues.

Mary enjoyed her family, cross country skiing and being outdoors tending to her beautiful flower gardens. Mary’s favorite were her sunflowers. She was a rock hound and enjoyed giving away her heirloom quilts that she made. Her family especially enjoyed her cooking and baking. Mary never met a stranger and welcomed many into her home. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her children, Wendi E. & Mike Doyon of Palmdale, CA and Richard Basford of Yakima; two grandchildren, Dakota and Uriah, mother, Lois Armstrong and a brother and two sisters, Julie Berger of Yakima, Shirley Armstrong of Selah and Ernie (Marilyn) Armstrong of Naches; also, a special niece and best friend Dondi Wilsey and nephews, D.J. and Beau Armstrong; and several great nieces and nephews; and Mary’s special companion, Buddy, her beloved Schnauzer. She was preceded in death by her father.

A Celebration of Mary’s life will be held at a later date.
