GREENE - Funeral services for Marjorie B. Andrews Bachman, 94, of 605 N. Second St., Greene, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at the First Presbyterian Church, in Greene, with Pastor Galen E. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Reid's Funeral Chapel, in Greene.

Marjorie Beatrice Flitton was born May 17, 1905 in Marshalltown, a daughter of John and Olive (Worden) Flitton, and died Wednesday (Sept. 1, 1999) at the Liebe Care Center, in Greene.

She received her education in the Marshalltown Public Schools graduating in 1924. She attended Iowa State College in Ames for one year and was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority. She was employed at the Marshall County Courthouse and later Lennox Manufacturing, both in Marshalltown as a secretary.

On Sept. 11, 1930, she was united in marriage to Dr. William Andrews at her mother's home in Marshalltown. They made their home in Greene where Dr. Andrews had established his veterinary practice a year before. She assisted her husband in his practice for many years and later was secretary at the Greene Elementary School. Dr. Andrews died April 20, 1966.

On Oct. 1, 1978, she was united in marriage to Leland F. Bachman. They made their home in Greene and spent their winters in Florida until his death in 1988.

Marjorie had a great interest in her community and friends by her involvement in many civic organizations. She was a member of Chapter CC P.E.O. Sisterhood, Ladies Embroidery Club, 50-year member of the Federated Womans Club, first president of the Ladies Golf Association Round Grove Country Club, and past worthy Matron of Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the U.P.W. of Greene. Her interests included knitting, crafts, reading and playing Bridge.

Living family members include her four daughters and their spouses, Martha and John Deines, of Cedar Falls, Marjorie and Duane Enabnit, of Marble Rock, Marilyn and Justin Watson, of Manchester and Melinda and Dennis McWilliams, of Bristow; two stepsons and their spouses, Charles and Nancy Bachman, of New York and Lyle and Nita Bachman, of California; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, David and Julie Deines, Dana and Samantha Deines, Dawn and Keith Christensen, Diedre and Doug Schumacher, Darla Hollis, Danette and Shane Norris, Michael and Lisa Enabnit, Bill and Suz Watson, Curt and Debbie Watson, Gregory McWilliams, Barbara and Todd Brinkman; 10 great-grandchildren, Kate, Emma, Alexa, and Jared Deines, Chelsey, Lynsey Christensen, Erica Schumacher, Darrica and David Hollis, and Tyler Brinkman. She was also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, parents, and four sisters, Fern Pedersen, Gladys Morrison, Mildred Stone, and Doris Eige.
