MINDEN — Ina Delores Stone, 103, of Minden, formerly of Palmer, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, at Bethany Home in Minden.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Greenway Funeral Home in Palmer. Pastor Doug Shada will officiate. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer.

Mrs. Stone was born Oct. 3, 1913, in rural St. Paul to Roy and Mable and (Jones) Clark. Delores attended school at District 12 in Howard County and then St. Paul High School.

She was united in marriage to Adrian Stone on Oct. 11, 1930, in Mankato, Kan.

The couple to the home farm east of Bunker Hill near St. Paul where they engaged in farming. They continued farming on two other farms in the area before moving to a farm northwest of Palmer. She enjoyed working on the farm with her husband. She also was employed at the Palmer School Cafeteria.

She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers (especially African violets), canning fruits and vegetables, and raising chickens. She cooked and baked cookies and candies which she would give as Christmas gifts. Delores did a lot of sewing, making clothes and drapes.

After her husband’s death on Sept. 21, 1964, Delores moved into Palmer. She moved to Central City in 1971, where she lived until 1977 when she moved to Grand Island and began work at the Lutheran Hospital. Delores did volunteer work and helped with quilting at the Grand Island Senior Center.

She moved to Kearney in 2000 and in late 2005 she moved into the Bethany Home in Minden where she has lived since.

Delores was a member of First Church of Christ in Palmer.

Survivors include a daughter, Vida Mae Verplank of Kearney; a son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Carolyn Stone of Hastings; seven grandchildren and spouses, Adriane and Rick Washburn, Kyle and Kira Stone, Sarah and Juan Retana, Lindsey Stone, Bill and Teresa Verplank, Tom and Catherine Verplank, Carey and Chuck Childs, and Kevin Conway; 17 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren, eight great-great-great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and nine stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Adrian; a granddaughter, Theresa Conway; two brothers, Clifford and Deloise Clark; and a sister, Lois Wilkenson.
