Nell Marie "Nellie" Leatherwood Maddoux, age 90, of Eden, Texas passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 in San Angelo, Texas after a brief illness.
Nellie was born February 22, 1926 in Paint Rock, Texas to James Frank Leatherwood & Mattie Kay (New) Leatherwood. She married Clinton Maddoux.
She was a homemaker and helped her sisters operate the Morocco Motel and Restaurant for several years. She was an awesome Christian woman, devoting her life to helping and caring for people. For years, she prepared holiday meals (as well as daily lunches) for many. The Eden community will miss her greatly. Many have said there is a special place waiting for Nellie in heaven for her selfless devotion and dedication in caring for Wesley.
Graveside services for Nell Marie "Nellie" Leatherwood Maddoux will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the Eden Cemetery in Eden with Reverend Chris Curtis and Reverend Mark Bethune officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady.
Nellie is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, stillborn son Alan, daughter Claudia Kay Maddoux, son Wesley Maddoux, brothers B.Z. and Everett and Sisters Mabel, Mildred and Dorothy.
