Robert Anderson “Bob” Hill, 80, of Ellerbe, passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham.
Mr. Hill was born September 23, 1936 in Richmond County, a son of the late Maynard Martin and Esther Anderson Hill. He was a lifetime member of McLean Presbyterian Church where he had served as an elder and had served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of Elberta Lodge #654, AF&AM, the Richmond County Beekeepers Association, had served on the board of the Farm Service Agency and the Soil and Water Conservation. He had retired from Sara Lee Hosiery and was also a farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Lettie Ruth Lewis Hill of the home; children, David Hill (Lynne) of Hartsville, SC, Michael Hill of Ellerbe, Connie Hill (Albert Hough) of Sanford, Robert A. Hill, Jr. “Robby” (Vivian) of Ellerbe; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth Hill, Lowell Hill and Joseph Hill, all of Ellerbe and sisters, Glenda Allen of Rockingham, Kathleen Carter of Cary and Jewell Weatherly of Ellerbe.
Funeral services will be at 11 am Thursday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe with Rev. John Stone and Jamie Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery.
The family will see friends from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home.
