Bertha M Hovis, 82, of Bloomington, died Friday at the Bloomington Hospitality House.Born April 26, 1915, in Greene County, she was the daughter of William and Maude (Callahan) Clayton. She was a member of the Newark Baptist Church and retired from Bloomington Hospital, where she worked in the dietary department.
Survivors include one daughter, Naomi R. England of Springville; three sisters, Thelma Beamon of Oaktown, and Dorothy Doane and Ruth Bateman, both of Bloomington; two grandsons and two great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett L. Hovis, in 1962; two brothers and one sister.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Newark Baptist Church in Newark, with Rev Roy Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, and from noon Monday until services at the church.
