Gerald "Jerry" Hart, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away peacefully in his home holding his wife's hand on Friday, September 23, 2016 at the age of 79.Jerry was born to parents Joel and Erma Kay Hart on May 8th, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He grew up an only child and attended Granite High School in Salt Lake City, Utah. In October 1956, he married Marilyn Dust. They had four children together: Gerilyn, Robert, Ronald, and Barbara. Later divorced.
Jerry met Gloria Evans in October 1991 and was married on December 7th, 1997 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The couple remained inseparable during their twenty-five years together even until the end. He was a great family man and a loving father. He is remembered as being a driven, brilliant man and a patient husband and father who encouraged them to pursue their life goals. Jerry loved working with his hands and could repair anything. He had many talents and hobbies throughout the years and enjoyed reading, restoring cars, and building model airplanes. He loved Science, History, and studied World War II extensively. His true passion was aviation and in 1966 he earned his pilot's license, later receiving his multi-engine license. Jerry joined the Commemorative Air Force where he was a member for over thirty years eventually devoting his retirement going on tour and volunteering thousands of hours until about five months prior to his death while battling cancer. Jerry loved children and spent most of his retirement with his daughter Chanel and granddaughter Elizabeth along with his other grandchildren in Mesa, Arizona.
Jerry is survived by his love; Gloria Hart; his daughters, Gerilyn Hart, Chanel Wilson (Brian), Barbara Lenhart (Pat), bonus stepdaughter, Angela Matlock (Justin); his sons, Robert Hart, Chad Evans (Roberta), and Charles Evans; eighteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Ronald Hart; his parents, Joel and Erma Hart.A celebration of life will be held at the Commemorative Air Force Airbase in Mesa, Arizona on Saturday, October 1st, 2016 between the hours of 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. (2017 N Greenfield Rd, Mesa, AZ 85215).
