Barbara A. Benson, 57, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, at her home in Escondido, Calif.
Miss Benson was born June 11, 1931, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Laurence and Anita Brown Benson. She moved to California with her parents when she was 6 years old. She was graduated from Fairfax High School in Hollywood, Calif., and in 1953 from the University of Southern California. She taught school in Los Angeles for 13 years and then worked as a counselor for the Chino Prison in Chino, Calif., until she retired in 1985.
Survivors include her mother, Anita Benson of Iola.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Highland Cemetery in Iola. The Rev. J.C. Kelley will officiate Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Memorial Chapels are in charge of arrangements.
