Died on Friday last, August 14, 1885, at 2.30 o'clock a.m., Maggie Burch, daughter of Hon. H.M. Burch of Laurens County. She had been ill only nine days, from bilious fever when when death relieved her of of all earthly pain and suffering, and her young spirit took its flight to the God who gave it. She was in her sixteenth year and had enjoyed good health from a very small child up to the time of this attack, which she bore with commendable fortitude. During her illness she frequently expressed herself as desirous of going home, and on one of these occasions when told by a love one, standing by, that she was home, she promptly replied " I do not mean this home, but the one beyond the skies, wither I see my little brother calling me" She further expressed herself as entertaining no fear of death, and only a few hours before her her demise she sang in a clear sweet voice. The hours had become weary, and all her fond hopes and aspirations, and all that she held dear in this life perished into utter insignificance as the veil was slowly removed, and with an eye of faith she was enabled in part to behold the beauties of the Celestial City. Take courage fond parents and loved ones, you sorrow not as those without hope. To your already three sainted little boys, your loved Maggie leaves bright assurances that she has fought the good fight and is now basking in the sunshine of God's eternal glory. Her funeral was preached by Rev. W.S. Ramsey, after which her remains were interred beside those of her little brothers in the Dublin Cemetery.
