Mary Anne Lilley Shields, his wife of 65 years, passed away Thursday, 19Mar2009.
A celebration of life for Mr. and Mrs. Shields will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday 29Apr, at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines, with the Rev. David L. Hicks officiating.
Mr. Shields was an Air Force veteran of World War II, later receiving a degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a nuclear physicist. He was employed as a defense contractor for the U.S. government.
Mary Anne Shields graduated from Eastern Nazarene College in MA, and was very active in the DAR. Mrs. Shields owned her own business, making clothes for ice skaters, she also enjoyed genealogy research. The Shields are survived by their daughter, Mary Jo and husband, Michael LeFebvre; grandsons, Jimmy and Jason LeFebvre, wife, Tara; siblings, Connie and Sprite Barbee, Gary and Kathy Lilley, Jim Lilley, and six nephews and nieces.
