Marion - Frances Athea Dills Hollifield, 74, of Marion, died Friday, May 12, 2006, at Spruce Pine Community Hospital.

Born in Swain County on June 17, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Jerry Alexander and Bertha Foster Dills. She was a member of Hicks Chapel Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Her husband, Charles Ray Hollifield Sr. preceded her in death.

Surviving Mrs. Hollifield are her three children, Charles Ray Hollifield Jr. and wife, Linda, of Marion, Wayne Larry Hollifield of Marion, and Ken Roger Hollifield and wife, Ava, of Spruce Pine; brother, Edward Dills and wife, Barbara, of Freeport, Fla.; two sisters, Nellie Reel of Marion and Irene Byrd of Black Mountain. Nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive her.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Hicks Chapel Baptist Church with Dr. Tom Walker, Rev. Milton Hollifield and Rev. Chris Davis officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Westmoreland Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Turkey Cove Cemetery.
