Mr. Bower was born March 25, 1919 in Camden, Arkansas and had been a resident of Shreveport since 1954. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech University and received his degree in Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Bower was a highly decorated World War II veteran serving his country proudly in the U.S. Army Corps as a fighter pilot obtaining the rank of Captain. He was also a prisoner of war during this period and escaped after 18 months of captivity. Mr. Bower was owner and president of Bower Machinery Corporation, and could always be found on any given Saturday morning having coffee with several other veterans of World War II.
Mr. Bower was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Daisy D. (Heard) Bower. He is survived by his wife, Mary Janet (Young) Bower of Shreveport, and his daughter, Daisy Dorothy Bower of Houston, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
