"Sidney Pastor's Brother Succumbs - Edward Shie, 53, of Cincinnati, former Sidney resident, died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in General hospital, Cincinnati. He had been in ill health for the past two months; death was caused by a heart attack.
Mr. Shie is survived by his wife, Ada, of Cincinnati. Brothers are: Rev. Charles Shie, pastor of the Sidney Bethel Mission Church; Clifford and Herman Sr., of Three Rivers, Michigan. Mrs Lusetta Lee, Piper street, Sidney; Mrs. Katie Westervelt, of Parksville, Michigan; Mrs. Edith Shaffner, of Loveland; Mrs. Emma Laws, of East Point, Florida; Mrs. Gertrude Wilcox, of Norwood, are the sisters.
Preceding him in death was his first wife, their son, Elza Avery, and one brother, Chris Shie.
Edward Shie was born near Sidney on October 8, 1898, one of 10 children of the late John and Jenny Watkins Shie. He moved from Sidney About 1932. During his residence here he had been a truck driver. For the past several years he had been employed as a night watchman in a Cincinnati factory.
Funeral services will be held in the Shie home in Cincinnati Saturday before the funeral cortege leaves for Sidney. Rites here will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday from the Bethel Mission Church, West Park street.
The body will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour. Burial will be in Glen cemetery, Port Jefferson."
