Following his career in education, he worked for a software development company in Texas and then served as the Director of Human Resources for the City of Fort Wayne. Leaving that position, he became the CEO of the Scottish Rite Center. In retirement, he worked with his good friend and colleague, Rudy A. Mahara, Sr. at Mahara Wealth Partners. Honors received include the Sagamore of the Wabash from then Governor Evan Bayh. He was also noted as a Kentucky Colonel from then Governor Paul E. Patton and was a recipient of the Tennessee Squire. He was very active in the Masonic fraternity at Waynedale Lodge 739, Scottish Rite serving as the Executive Secretary, York Rite, Order of the Red Cross St. Hillary, Mizpah Shrine, Jesters and ROAH. He was a recipient of the DeMolay Honor award and the 33rd degree. He was a member of the Downtown and Anthony Wayne Rotary Club receiving the Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of Crescent Avenue United Methodist Church and served on the Boards of Northeast Indiana Easter Seals ARC and the CAWS (Crescent Avenue Weekday School) board as well as the President of the Smith Academy for Excellence school board and past president of the Fort Wayne American Cancer Society and was a founding board member of the Fort Wayne Boys and Girls Club. He also served as treasurer of the 431 Foundation overseeing extensive restoration of the then Scottish Rite Center.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, H. Jeanne D. Sheridan; four children, Seth (Brooke) Sheridan of Fort Wayne, Shiloh Sheridan of Avon, Christian (Dana) Sheridan of Houston, and Zachary (Yvette) Sheridan of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren, Jedaiah, Harrison, Ella, Grace, Rowan and Lincoln; and one great-granddaughter, August. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and June (Nikirk) Sheridan; and brother, John Sheridan.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at Crescent Avenue United Methodist Church, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Mark Glough officiating. Visitation also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with a Masonic service at 8:30 p.m. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to Crescent Avenue Weekday School, Easter Seals ARC of Northeast Indiana or Shriners Hospitals for Children .
