Floyd Crownover, 82, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006
Burial will be in Claude Cemetery.
Mr. Crownover was born in Armstrong County to Mart and Minnie Crownover on April 28, 1923. He was a graduate of Claude High School He married Jimmie Earlene Roe in the parsonage of the Methodist Church in Claude on Feb. 27, 1945. He farmed the family homestead in Armstrong County, where he was born, from 1941 to 1977. After retiring from the farm, he began working as the maintenance supervisor for the Claude Independent School District until he once again retired in 1997. He prided himself on a beautiful lawn and garden and was known for his beautiful irises. He was also a master with a saw and capable of doing anything he put his mind to. One of his favorite pastimes was that of a weather observer for the National Weather Service, for which he was employed for more than 15 years. When he entered the arms of his loving Savior, he was surrounded by three generations of loving family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Frank Crownover.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Phyllis Westbrook and husband, Holland, of Claude and Patricia Turnbow and husband, Bob, of Carrollton; a son Jim Crownover and wife, Wanda, of Lubbock; three sisters, Jenola Maple of Bedford and Roberta Ford and Martha Champeau, both of Amarillo, a twin brother, Lloyd Crownover of Stratford; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
