Robert Allen Frain, 62, of Petoskey, passed away Dec. 14, 2006, at Northern Michigan Hospital.

A celebration of Robert's life will be held 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Jan. 21, 2007, at the Springvale Township Hall In Petoskey.

Robert was born Jan. 24, 1944, in Frankfort, Mich., the son of Ivan and Margaret (Boynton) Frain. He grew up in Arcadia, Mich., and attended school at Arcadia High, graduating in 1962. He then attended Northern Michigan University in Marquette and Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, and West Shore Community College in Scottville, Mich.

On July 6, 1963, he married Barbara Louise Green in Bear Lake, Mich.

After college, Bob was employed by Ex-Cell-o Corp., in Manistee for 18 years, achieving the position of supervisor of industrial engineering. He also served on the advisory board to West Shore Community College's machine tool program. When Ex-Cell-O closed, he then worked for other machine shops before becoming self-employed as a residential builder in the Petoskey area.

Bob enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and four wheelers. Bob always had a building project going.


Survivors include his wife, Barbara L. Frain, of Petoskey; daughter, Betty Frain, of Petoskey; son, Brian (Lynn) Frain, of Traverse City; grandchildren, Emily Numetz of Lake Ann, Jordan Frain of Traverse City, Garrett Frain of Traverse City; sister, June Sanborn, of Hesperia; four sisters-in-law, Rose Frain of Onekama, Ellen Frain of Manistee, Wilma Smith of Bear Lake, Karen Green of Bear Lake; father-in-law, John Green Sr., of Petoskey; 16 nieces and nephews; 17 great-nieces and great-nephews; six great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and many friends and extended family members, and very special friends Hank and Glenda Livingston, Rex and Kim Barnes, Jeaneen Foltz, Bob and Kitty Fox, Wes and Cynthia McKenny, Jess Graham, Wilma Graham, Don and Rosemarie Bowers and Cindy Shaw for the last horseback ride.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Margaret Frain; four brothers, Ivan Jr., Philip, James, Leon; three brothers-in-law, Robert Sanborn, Richard Smith, Billy Green.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Hospice of Little Traverse Bay. Envelopes for this purpose will be available at the Celebration of Life for Robert on Jan. 21, 2007, or at the Charles G. Parks Funeral Home where arrangements were handled.



Bob and I never had the chance to meet,we never knew of each other til a few years ago.
We exchanged Christmas cards,but never got to know each other as family members do.
But his sister June is so sweet a person,and brother Jim,I loved and still miss very much.
I was the secret his father hid from everyone.
Bob's mother was a wonderful lady(and I mean LADY) she always new about another child, and she was the one who accepted me before the others.
I am one of the extended family members.
