Darlene Hart Byington

IDAHO FALLS, ID - Darlene Hart Byington, 77, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 9, 2006, at her home of cancer. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice.

She was born February 15, 1929, in Preston, Idaho, to Arthur James "Dutch" Hart and Belva Allred Hart. She grew up in Preston and graduated from Preston High School. She also attended Brigham Young University.

She married Vernon Hyrum Byington June 6, 1949, in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. They lived briefly in Thatcher and Woodville, Idaho, then in Idaho Falls for 26 years and Logan, Utah, for 27 years before returning to Idaho Falls three years ago. She worked as a teacher, as a clerk at the Idaho Falls Credit Union, as KID Radio Traffic Manager, and for Schreibers.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served as Primary and Young Women President, and in numerous other callings. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading, playing canasta, reunions, road trips, desserts, British comedies, and Dixieland jazz music.

Survivors include:

Daughter: Sydnee (late Nolan) Cherry, Idaho Falls, ID
Son: Greg (Sharon) Byington, Sierra Vista, AZ
Daughter: Barbara (Kevin) Case, Shelley, ID
Brother: Quint (Emalu) Hart, Preston, ID
Brother: Ralph (LaVonda) Hart, Roseburg, OR
Foster Daughter: Nina (Jurandir) Minharo, Logan, UT
8 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren; 3 foster granddaughters and 2 foster great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 14, 2006, at the Idaho Falls LDS 21st Ward, 1155 East First Street, with Bishop Phil Wheatley officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be in the Preston Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
