James Steven "Steve" Mahaffey, age 67, of Woofruf, SC, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at his home.


Native of Spartanburg County, son of Dennis Horace Mahaffey (1910–1967) and Eva Hamby Mahaffey Green (1911–1990).


Member of the Woodruff Church of God of Prophecy, a Customer Service Rep with Food Lion, and a U.S. Army veteran.


Survived by sons, Steven Mahaffey and Joseph Adam Couch; sisters, Phyllis Sanders, Delores Stevens, and Jessie Katherine "Kay" Mehaffey Leonard (1941–2022); and seven grandchildren.


Also predeceased by brothers, Rev Curtis Docier Hamby (1928–1989), Bobby Lewis Mahaffey (1932–1957), and Hugh Larry Mahaffey (1944–1945); and sisters, Georgia Lou Mahaffey Green (1935–1994) and Brenda Mahaffey Waddell (1943–2003)


The family received friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Forest Hills Funeral Home


Funeral service was held at 11:00 am, Monday, October 17, 2016, in the Stribling Memorial Chapel at Forest Hills Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Wayne Hinton and Rev. Steve Christopher; interment was in MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery, Anderson, SC
