Note: Lottie was apparently first married to Walter Eugene Brooks Southard, as they had at least two children together, Walter A.D. Southard in 1916 and Elwood Southard in 1919. He is listed as Eugene B. in the 1900 Census, as Brooks in the 1910 Census, and as Walter E. in the 1930 Census. Lottie is listed as married with the last name Southard in the 1920 Census, and she and the two children were living with her stepfather and mother, Weldon and Minnie Denny Ward.

Lottie married Charlie Perry on September 15, 1920 and was listed as Edmonds on her marriage certificate. They were married in Haw River, Alamance Co., NC and the union was witnessed by her stepfather, Weldon Ward, her brother, Columbus Edmonds, and her sister, Jocie/Jessie Edmonds. The 1930 Census shows Charlie and Lottie living in Haw River with Walter and Elwood (listed as Perry on the form) as well as four more children of their own. The 1940 Census shows Charlie and Lottie living in the Graham, NC area with son Elwood Southard (Walter had died in 1939) and their seven other children, three more having been born since the 1930 census. Charlie Perry died March 5, 1949. His estate was probated a few weeks later and the following heirs were listed: Lottie Perry, Charles Edward Perry, Pauline Elizabeth Perry Freeman, Beulah Virginia Dodson, Alfred Ernest Perry, Joe Henry Perry, Dwight Milton Perry.

In the meantime, Brooks, using the name Eugene Southard married Ida Mae Hemphill on January 21, 1928 in Mooresville, NC. The 1930 Census shows Walter E. and Ida Southard living together in Rockingham, NC with one child and Walter's brother Gurney Southard. Ida divorced Walter on February 24, 1941 in Danville, VA, after 13 years of marriage and four years' separation. The record cited two minor children in the family at the time of the divorce, one of whom was Melvilee Southard (14 Oct 1928 - 6 Dec 1979, VA).

Finally, another North Carolina marriage record shows Walter Eugene Southard and Lottie Stella Edmonds Perry were married on June 26, 1953 in Caswell County, NC; this marriage was witnessed by her brother Solomon E. Edmonds and his daughter Cathleen Edmonds (later Ipock). Walter died a few years later in 1956 and Lottie died in 1983. She is buried with one of her children with Charlie Perry, Alfred E. Perry (1931-1981).
