Betty Ann Hartley March 22, 1921 October 11, 2016 Betty Ann Hartley, 95, of State College formerly of Centre Hall died Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Valley View Haven in Bellville. Born March 22, 1921, in Potter Township, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Alice (Marshall) Brooks. On October 25, 1939, she married Theodore Hartley who preceded her in death on May 2, 1977. Betty worked in the cafeteria at Penns Valley High School, later she worked at the former W.T. Grants store in the Nittany Mall then she worked at Sears in the Nittany Mall until her retirement in 1988. She was a lifetime member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Centre Hall and a member of Sears Retirees Group, who especially enjoyed traveling and embroidery. Betty is survived by two daughters, Sylvia H. Malone (Ben), of Boalsburg and Patricia A. Weber (David), of Aiken, S.C.; one son, Joseph G. (Joyce) Hartley. of Spring Grove; one brother, Basil Brooks, of Rebersburg; seven grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Weaver and Connie Tressler; five brothers, Kenneth, Philip, William, Paul and Lewis Brooks; and one grandson. Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2016, at Trinity United Church of Christ, 104 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Centre Hall. The funeral service will start at 2:00 p.m. in the church with The Reverend David Downer officiating. Burial will follow in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, Centre Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Betty's name may be made to the Trinity United Church of Christ, PO Box 212, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
