Raymond Cecil Freed, 79, died at 12:50 AM Friday, Aug. 23, 1996, at Heritage Health Care, West Lafayette. Born Oct. 27, 1916, at Deshler, OH, he had lived in Lafayette most of his life. He and his wife, Betty, were married Sept. 14, 1963, at Delphi. Mr. Freed was an inspector at Alcoa for 38 years before retiring in 1979.

Surviving with his wife are a son, Ronald Freed of Brookston; two stepchildren, Mark Rogers of West Lafayette and Una Rogers of Lafayette; three sisters, Agnes (Mrs. Oscar) Wortley of Rensselaer, Ruth Yeager of Valier, MT, and Esther (Mrs. Charles) Rich of New Richmond; one grandson and seven step-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold; and stepson, Robert.
