In 1942 he entered WWII as a Civil Service worker/Served in Hawaii and Guam for 4 years; then on return to the US he worked for the US Navy for a year at El Centro, Calif. He settled in Salem, OR to retire; died there Aug 8th, 1959 at age 72 with burial there.
