MADISONVILLE, Ky. -- Agnes Messamore Rhodes, 90, of Madisonville, formerly of Beulah, Ky., died at 4:08 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at NHC Healthcare in Madisonville.

She was born in Hopkins County on Dec. 29, 1909, to the late Dave Robards and Mary Dockery Robards.

She was a housewife, had owned and operated several businesses, and was a member of Charleston Missionary Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Dawson Springs High School.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, M.D. Messamore and V.L. Rhodes; three sisters, Erwin Robards, Myrtie McGregor, and Lola Fuller; six brothers, Ersley Robards, Jasper Robards, Corbit Robards, Jesse Robards, Hobert Robards, and Hilton Robards; and one grandson, Kenneth Messamore.

She is survived by one daughter, Jo Ann Travis of Madisonville; two sons, Ralph Messamore of Madisonville, and Donald Messamore of Virginia; five grandsons; 13 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs with the Rev. Mike Hancock officiating. Burial will be in New Beulah Cemetery.
