George M. Barrett, age 88, died at home on Thursday, September 29, 2016. Born March 13, 1928 in Boston, he served in the United Stated Coast Guard from 1946 to 1948, where he was Honorably discharged as a Fireman First Class. He worked for the Boston and Maine Railroad for 14 years and retired as a Lieutenant from the Brookline Fire Department in 1982.
He is survived by his children, Susan Foye, George Mark Barrett, Scott Barrett, William Barrett, Jane Murphy, And Nora Elicone.
A viewing will be held prior to the funeral at 8:15am at Sullivan Funeral Home, 45 East Water St. in Rockland. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, 403 Union St. in Rockland at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, 920 Adams St. Dorchester.
