In Memoriam (The Carroll Free Press; Carrollton, Georgia; 30 Jan 1913; Page 2)

Mrs. Martha Jackson was born on November 19th, 1884, and died October 9th, 1912. She was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. King. She was a good girl and blessed the home of her parents until the age of twenty-three when she was married to Emory Jackson. Their union was blessed with one bright little boy, Dewey.

During the last three months of Martha's life she suffered untold pain, though she bore the pain with the courage of a Christian; she scarcely murmured.

She leaves a husband, one little boy, father, mother, two sisters and seven brothers and a host of friends and relatives to mourn her death.

Martha joined the Primitive Baptist church at Poplar Springs before she was married and was always ready to attend her meetings when opportunity allowed.

She was an obedient, industrious, and loving mother, a true affectionate wife and a generous neighbor, at all times doing unto others as she would that they do unto her. We would not say to her husband and relatives, "Weep not for her," for we know it would be almost impossible with them when they look around seeing the work of Martha's hands and that little baby with no mother's hand to care for it; no mother's hum of lullaby song, and no mother's kiss to caress it. But we would encourage them with the thought of meeting their dear one at the banks of sweet deliverance, for we truly believe, that since that earthly tabernacle of Martha's has dissolved, she has a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal, and in the heavens.

She is there singing with the holy angels around God's throne, and when the great day of the Lord shall come, and the dead in Christ shall rise from the graves, then our now mortal bodies shall be changed in the twinkling of an eye to that of an immortal body, then our spirits and incorruptible bodies shall be reunited and meet the Lord in the air and shall know as we are known. I reckon that our sorrows here are not to be compared with the joys that we shall have then, for then there shall be no more sorrow, pain or bereavement, but there shall be everlasting joy in the sunlight of God's love.
