Franz emigrated to the United States before 1846. He decided to change his name. Likely, since he was a Confectioner (a Baker) he chose the name Frank Oscar Baker. In about 1872 he married Mary Schafer (who died, date unknown) and had four children with her. His original children disappear from the record at this point. He then married Anna M Schmidt and had three more children (one stillborn). He divorced Anna and married Anna May Rhoden and had two children with her. Anna Rhoden left Frank, who later won a divorce from her.
