The obituary that appeared in the Statesman Journal, Salem, Oregon on 2 Nov 1958, incorrectly gave his death place as Walla Walla, Washington (where he resided). His death certificate gives his death place as rural Southwick, Latah County, Idaho. (The village of Southwick lies in Nez Perce county, but the rural area was apparently in Latah County because that is what is on the death certificate.) Family tradition says that he was visiting relatives in Idaho when he died. The cause was a coronary occlusion, "dead on arrival."
