William Williams Chapline was born on August 20, 1742, in All Saints' Parish, Frederick County; the first son of Joseph Chapline and Ruhama Williams Chapline. He was never married and had no children. In 1773, because of his heavy indebtedness, William conveyed all of his properties (550 acres), in trust, to his brother James until his debts were paid. In violation of the trust James sold 244 acres of William's land, including 1 mill, and leased out a farm and kept the rents and profits himself. This resulted in a lengthy court dispute between the brothers which began in 1790 and was not settled until 1832. By that point both brothers had died. William Williams Chapline died intestate in 1803.
