In 1913, Robert W. Service moved to Paris. In June 1913, he married Parisienne Germaine Bourgoin, daughter of a distillery owner, and they bought a summer home at Lancieux, Côtes-d'Armor, in the Brittany region of France.
Germaine gave birth to twin daughters Iris and Doris in 1917 on January 28
Robert, Germaine and the twins journey to the Riviera. While in Menton Doris suffering from scarlet fever died on Feb. 25th 1918. In his grief Robert penned the following lines:
You've taught me Grief, wee piteous face!
And boundless pity too;
You're taking to your resting place
Part of my heart with you.
My little girl whose smile so right,
I'll see while sight endures!
This life of mine I'd give to-night
Could I but ransom yours.
In 1952 Iris Service, at age 35, marries James Llewellyn Davies, a bank manager .
In 1952 October 15th: Anne is born to Iris and James. (Robert and Germaine's first grandchild.)
Then in 1954 October 12th: Armelle, is born to Iris and James. (Robert & Germaine's second granddaughter is born.)
Anne Longepe -nee Davies has a daughter Charlotte Longepe
