Mrs. Morton was a faithful and dedicated member of the Loudon Cumberland Presbyterian Church for almost 50 years. She was also a member of the Hiawassee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Born in Roane County, Tennessee, on May 6, 1925, Mrs. Morton attended Kingston High School, Sullins College, and the University of Tennessee where she received her B.S. degree in Education. She taught for many decades at the Loudon Elementary School, teaching third grade and was closely involved in the gifted program.
Mrs. Morton was pre-deceased by her parents James Lackey Eblen and Willie Dail Eblen of Loudon, her brother James Ralph Eblen of Loudon, her sister Frankie Ruth Payne of Knoxville, and her husband of 65 years Joseph R. ("Rocky") Morton.
Her family will receive friends 1:00 – 3:00 Friday, Oct. 7th McGill-Karnes Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday in New Steekee Cemetery with Rev. Nick Coker officiating.
