Mitch was born in Treece, Kansas on the morning of December 31, 1929. He was the baby of 14 children. He went home to be with the Lord on October 3, 2016 with his loving family by his side.

Mitch is preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia Bridges a Great Grandson, Easton Sanford, and a brother Robert Bridges, Memorial #8585314. He is survived by his 4 children, 9 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great, Great Grandchild, and 1 sister of Oregon.

Mitchell served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1950-1954. He often talked about his time on the USS Pine Island, the ship where he was a mechanic in the engine room. He retired from the Bakersfield City School District where he was Senior Duplicator for many years. He was always proud of the fact that when he was in 8th grade, he won the American Legion Award. He played the trumpet in the Rose Parade for Antelope Valley High School, but was unable to attend the game due to the fact that he and another classmate got intoxicated after marching in the parade. Mitch was a rebel without a cause who always played practical jokes on anybody he met. He was a big story teller and after developing Alzheimer's Disease, his stories became bigger and more interesting. Throughout his life, his favorite thing to do was play Keno at the casino's. Mitch will be missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

The family would like to thank Optimal Hospice for their care and kindness during his final days.

Visitation will be held from 5 pm until 8 pm on Thursday, October 6th at Greenlawn Funeral Home on River Blvd. Graveside service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 10 am.
