Walter W. (Wally) Leistiko passed away September 24th at home, survived by wife Bonnie.

Wally was born in Portland, Oregon on July 4, 1927 to parents: Lena G. Fullner from Minnesota and Fred W. Leistiko from North Dakota.

Wally is survived by brothers Don Leistiko (Helen), Bill Leistiko (Nancy), and Fred Leistiko (Dee), son Steven Leistiko (Mary), daughters Deborah and Jo Ann Thompson, step children Pamela J. Lloyd, Mike and Patty Sunde, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, one five generation granddaughter, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was a World War II Veteran, serving as an Army Sergeant in the Motor Pool to the 332 Engineers and 101 Air Corps (The Screaming Eagles) at Erbendorf, Germany while helping to rebuild the air base from Italy to Germany.

After arriving back home to the States he was diagnosed with TB and was admitted to the Portland TB hospital in Portland where he spent 20 months lying in his back to recover from the disease.

After his discharge from the service Wally worked for the division of Longshoreman and Harbor workers for 40 years.

Wally was a very busy person who loved working in his shop, he always had a project.

Special mention to the following: the Tuesday group of Longshoreman that shared breakfast at the Foothills Eatery, Brent Stovall a long time buddy and friend, now deceased, Joe Crowley who was always lending a helping hand, now deceases, Bernie and Vi Diggar and the ole' gang that met every Thursday evening at the Canton grill in Portland.

Very special mention to the Hospice of Yuma, you are all wonderful people that helped Wally find comfort, thank you and God bless you.

Wally you will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

Services will held at Sun Vista Mortuary on October 7 at 12PM. Lunch will follow at the Daybreakers Restaurant in the Foothills.
