Agnes "Aggie" Elizabeth Bellendier Weissinger was born September 25, 1931, in Oelwein, IA.

A first-generation American, whose parents were Germans from Russia, Aggie graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Oelwein, and then earned an RN Degree from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Des Moines, IA, in 1952. Aggie enjoyed a 42-year career as an exceptional Nurse, who combined competence and caring in equal measure. She won the lasting affection and respect of the Nurses and Aides who worked with her.

In her 20's, she served as Head Nurse at Oceanside (CA) General Hospital, leading the facility to its first successful accreditation. Later, she was the Head Nurse in the Spinal Cord Care Unit at Immanuel Hospital, and then the Night Nursing Supervisor at Immanuel Fontenelle Home. In retirement, she was a volunteer Paraeducator at Elementary Schools in North Omaha, specializing in reading and hugs.

Married to William Craig Weissinger, HMC, USN (Ret.) for 60 years, Aggie adored her kids, grandkids, and great-grand kids.

Her house was everyone's favorite place. She was an amazing Mom who taught integrity, service, and courage by example. She was an attentive and supportive sister, and friend. She was easily delighted and her laugh was infectious. She was energetic and positive, and made those around her feel cared for and appreciated. She was intolerant of intolerance. She was tough as nails. She was a lot of fun.

Aggie was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Phillipe and Anna Margaret (Kisner) Bellendier; and her beloved siblings, Anne, Paul, Mary Ann & Jerome.

Her family is grateful for their time with her: husband Bill; son, Andy and daughter-in-law Stephanie (Johnson) Weissinger; daughter, Ellen Weissinger and her partner Wendy Birdsall; granddaughter, Sarah and her husband Jason Murphy and their son Hudson (and soon to be born baby girl); and granddaughter, Coryn Weissinger and her fiancé Jake McDonnell. She also leaves behind her dear brothers, Edward and Andrew Bellendier.

Our family is deeply grateful to the nursing, recreation, housekeeping, dining, and pastoral staff at Immanuel Fontenelle Home for their loving care in mom's final weeks. Mom was so pleased to see her dear friends again, and to meet new colleagues who made her feel comfortable and happy.

Visitation Tuesday 5-7pm at Roeder Mortuary 108th Street Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials to: Nebraska Humane Society.
