Erv, born in Leask, SK, was the eldest of 5 children born to Alfred and Louise Betker.
He moved to Saskatoon where he married his wife and had 3 sons. They moved to Alberta and finally to Cranbrook where he lived the past 37 years. He is said to have formed many friendships and was the least judgmental person, never saying an unkind word, always ready to help and a rock to his family which earned him the nickname "Big Erv."
Erv is survived by his wife, 3 sons, 7 grandchildren, 1 brother and 3 sisters. Ervin was predeceased by his father Alfred Betker and mother Louise Betker.
A Celebration of Ervin's life was held at 12:00 noon on Saturday July 7, 2007 at McPherson Funeral Service, Cranbrook, British Columbia.
