Retha V. Carter, 83, of Houston, Texas entered into rest September 29, 2016. She was born on March 5, 1933 in Houston, Texas to parents James and Dovie Hall. She was married to Sanford J. Carter Jr. for 48 loving years. Retha had a passion for gardening, going to the beach, spending time with her family. She and Sanford enjoyed taking their grandchildren on adventures while touring Galveston. Because Sanford worked for the railroads, they also enjoyed taking train trips. Retha was a faithful, loving, selfless, and just an amazing friend to her family and friends. She was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, she was considered a Prayer Warrior.
Retha is preceded in death by her husband Sanford J. Carter Jr., parents James and Dovie Hall and her siblings. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Farr, and her son Phillip Carter and wife Cheryl. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and other relatives.
A visitation will be held Monday, October 3, 2016 from 9:30am until 11:00am. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00am. She will be laid to rest privately at the Houston National Cemetery.
